Project:
Challenge
Software development company
approx. 700 employees
As a link between software development and collection of customer requirements, product owners (PO) sometimes have massively poor cooperation with one of the most important stakeholders for business success: the so-called business experts, who collect customer feedback in an aggregate and pass it on to PO's. As a result of mistrust, there are many unnecessary frictional losses and loss of quality in the products.
Goal
After 8 months:
- Develop a strong sense of unity between the interface partners
- Define clear responsibilities in the overall process
- Solving key challenges in collaboration (especially in communication)
Measures
- Survey of status quo through brief interviews
- Workshop with PO's to practice dealing with challenging conversation situations together with an improv coach
- Pre-workshops with each of the stakeholder groups to discuss solutions to improve collaboration and view responsibilities in the overall process
- Joint workshop for the final definition of responsibilities in the overall process, development of solutions for the biggest challenges in cooperation and development of principles in cooperation for the most important moments in cooperation
- 2 retrospectives to track and fine-tune the implementation of what has been decided
Results
- Solution for key challenges in cooperation at structural level developed and implementation followed up
- Our understanding increased from 60% to 81% before and 6 weeks after the workshop
- Responsibility defined using RACI
- Thanks to improved agreement: after 8 months, the development of key products is 10% faster
